The randomizer has randomized and the following players were chosen:

FredGreenleaf, mmmizzle, Tim, superghost.

Players! Decide your roles. I'll accept anything in the basic rules book obviously, but also other character traits from the playtest from last fall (let me know if you need access to that).

Don't worry about equipment, you won't start with any and can't afford anything fancy anyway. You'll all be lvl 1.

Sweet! I'm down for any race/class combo. I will start brainstorming and will be open to last pick if the other players have designs on what they want to be.

I'm not picky either, if anyone has a preference.

I'm not sure if I have the final playtest package. I'm sure I can work with the basic rules.

Cool! I would like to try Fighter if nobody has a strong preference. I only have the ruleset released on the wizards site (basic rules). Is that enough material?

You can find the playtest stuff just by googling D&D Next playtest. You don't necessarily need any of it, unless you want some more diverse background or specialization options.

I needed to find it to get some baseline enemies to serve up.

Also, despite the fact you won't be armed, plan out what weaponry you'll be using.

Crap. Hate to do this but I have to cancel. My wife is having surgery that day and I might be too tied up helping with that. Sorry everyone.

Yeah surgery definitely trumps gaming. Best of luck to your wife.

Ok so I'll reroll to fill the last spot.....

Got a 1, which would be Leumas. Welcome to the party!

I want to be either a fighter or cleric. Not strong on race. Maybe... dwarf?

I'm leaning towards Human or Halfling Rogue as first choice. Dwarf or Human Cleric for second choice. Elf Wizard choice three and Fighter last.

If Sam doesn't mind playing the wizard I'll take whatever Tim doesn't want of the fighter/cleric.

I am leaning cleric since it is different from anything I have played in the past. I assume hill dwarf.

A little taste of the campaign setting:

Along the far western edge of the Starspire mountains, on a peninsula jutting out into the Sword Coast, sits a brutal labor camp. The prisoners here work in unrelenting conditions, carving incredibly valuable gems from the rock in treacherous mines. What your characters did to get here matters little, because once you're here everyone's fate is the same: a slow backbreaking descent into the grave.

That doesn't sound fun. What if we worked in a chocolate factory that was had magic AC??? Don't want to step on your toes, just throwing that out there.

Maybe everything on this peninsula abhors divine power? Maybe they carve out clerics tongues to prevent them from voicing prayers?

What do you think of that tweak, Tim?
