During today’s CD Projekt RED/GOG.com Live Summer Conference livestream, Guillaume Rambourg from GOG.com announced that they are launching their own game client called Galaxy.

Galaxy will focus on three major points – freedom of choice, optional choice and cross play. All of these points show their focus on giving customers just what they want. Games will be DRM free. Games will be completely available during offline mode. And finally, the freedom to play across platforms or without any platform running at all.

Guillaume also announced that with Galaxy games will be auto-updating, but stressed that the Galaxy client is completely optional, so you can still download your patches like it is 2004.

Is your digital life prepared for another client? Or will you just stick with Steam?

Update – Now there is a trailer!
