About Tim Lanning

Tim founded GeeklyInc with Michael DiMauro way back in 2013 when they realized they had two podcasts and needed a place to stick them. Since then, Geekly has grown and taken off in ways Tim could have never imagined.

1001 spikes It has been a while since I said to myself “Hey, let’s torture your soul a punishing puzzle platformer.” Well, I have decided to continue to take years off of my life by playing 1001 Spikes by Nicalis, Inc. You play as Aban Hawkins, a young spelunker who is challenged by his rude father to hunt treasure in a remote temple. An area so dangerous that it is the last remaining forgotten site that the adventurers of the past could not fully raid.

It is punishingly difficult and menacingly devious. 1001 Spikes just loves throwing a small trap at you once you assume you are safe. Here is the thing, you are never safe! But, the feeling of clearing a level is so much sweeter due to this difficulty. I will most likely never beat 1001 Spikes, but I will still continue to explore the depths found within. I will still curse at my screen and threaten to throw my controller.

Watch my gameplay below for a better sense of what 1001 Spikes has to offer.
