Episode 13 – A Dwarf, Dragonborn and a Githyanki Walk into a Bar…

About Tim Lanning

Tim founded GeeklyInc with Michael DiMauro way back in 2013 when they realized they had two podcasts and needed a place to stick them. Since then, Geekly has grown and taken off in ways Tim could have never imagined.

Oh boy, this week on Drunks and Dragons things sure do get dicey. While searching for answers the gang must try to work together while not destroying the town of Mastwick. Are they prepared to find out the truths that await them? Or will their pasts stop their adventure in its tracks…

The adventure continues with Tum Darkblade (Tim Lanning), Thom the Dragonborn (Mike Bachmann), Junpei Iori (Steven Strom), Aludra (Jennifer Cheek) and your Dungeon Master (Michael DiMauro).

Drunks and Dragons is a weekly podcast using the Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition ruleset. Please let us know what you think!

  1. Yay, first comment! Wow a lot happened in this episode! It’s probably my favorite yet! I have made it my goal to get at least one person to start listening!
P.S.: Could I maybe get someone to say my name during the podcast? 🙂

  2. K guys. I’m starting the Dnd podcast appreciation group podcast. Fans of the show please email if you are interested in appearing in episode 1! I hope to record this Sunday. 😀

  3. Finally caught up. Thanks for consistently entertaining me for the last 2.5 weeks of commutes to/from the office. Perfectly captures what all my D&D sessions have been like – a blend of humor and seriousness, ribbing of other players and helping them, and a DM that’s simultaneously trying to kill the party and help them. Outstanding. (itunes review forthcoming)

I’ve held off asking questions, most of which have been answered. One I had this week was as to the prices that were set for what was obtained. Generally speaking, most ale in any campaign I’ve ever been in cost coppers, not silver. Stabling was silver, not gold, and rooms costing a whole gold piece were at high quality establishments (with fancy locks on the doors and “gentlemen” travelers/nobility). Are the prices intentionally high because of the taxes, or was this just made up on the fly (my guess). Not that it matters, really.

  4. This week was so well done. I was impressed by the performances of all of the players, and was actually touched with Tim’s deep performance as Tum found out about his past. Jennifer, special kudos to your performance as a drunken Aludra. Mike B. and Steven were no slouch either. Finally, it goes without saying this whole thing can’t really be held together without Thrifty, who really is coming into his own and flexing those GM muscles.

I can’t wait to hear next week, where I bet we’ll get some combat too…

  5. This was definitely my favorite episode so far! So much role-playing that I don’t even know what to do with myself. Can someone please make next week come faster? I kind of listened too quickly…

  6. (Un)holy lord! This is the greatest combination of geekism, humor, and sexual deviance that I’ve heard Since Michael Knight said “KITT I need you” into his watch. Please keep it up. I’ve finally caught up to the current week and await with bated breath for the next weekly chapter!!

  7. Yeah, this one was awesome. No offence Mr. DM, but the linearity and lack of dming experience was taking a bit out of this show. I liked it, you guys have a great chemistry, but it could’ve been better. And now it is! Can’t wait for the next one.

  8. I know I’m about 3 years late to the party, but some friends and I started playing D&D together (first time for all of us) and I was trying to find some podcasts to help me get a better understanding of the game.

I can say with absolute certainty that this podcast has taught me more about the game than most other top-rated D&D podcasts out there.

It’s easy to pick up the basic rules, it’s a lot harder to get group dynamics right and to actually enjoy the role playing (80% of the game). The role playing especially, I don’t really have a flair for it and it was my main objection starting up D&D, but Thrifty & Friends have shown me the light!

Sorry for the book, I’m really looking forward to the next 150+ episodes!

  9. Funniest episode yet! I’ve been catching up for a couple weeks now, about an episode a day at work.. sooooo should be caught up within a couple of moons. Keep it dicey!

  10. While only being about 4 years behind on episode 30, this bar scene in Ep 13 with the different takes from different vantage points was hilarious to hear. Thrifty and crew, thanks for putting in the effort to DM and RP this thing. Makes my commute bearable.

  11. Listening through for third time at work but the first time without headphones. My coworker legit thinks people use DnD to summon demons and hearing Tim yell “Hail Satan!” as said coworker walked into my cubicle has brought me much joy.

  12. I haven’t played since the AD&D days, but after finding this, it keeps bringing me down memory lane. Need another player? All my buds have ‘retired’

  13. My fiance got me to listen to this show and MAN did this episode age.

“Hey guys, we love the support, but we need your help spreading the word about us!”
