After a somewhat stressful end to our last session, the gang does what it does best – focusing all of their (remaining) efforts to solve the problem at hand. Sure, things seemed awfully grim, but there has to be some arcane magics or divine assistance that we could harness. What is Geodude up to? That guy was alright. Our adventurers are crafty and resourceful so I have to assume that everything will be alright.
The adventure continues with Titus Harper (Tim Lanning), Thom the Dragonborn (Mike Bachmann), Aludra (Jennifer Cheek), Jaela (Nika Howard) and your Dungeon Master (Michael DiMauro). Don’t forget to follow our editor Steph Kingston (@stephokingston)!
Seconded. Since the 5e introduction (i.e. since Jaela stopped being way too good at everything), Nika has alternated between sulking and obnoxiously rules litigating. Here’s hoping it gets better as I catch up to the past 9 months.
I feel like Nika is sort of the min/maxer of the group and 5e feels like it can’t be as min/maxy hence why she likes Mathfinder.
It is I, from the future! Telling YOU to chill out.
It is I, from YOUR future, telling you they right tho.
Oh man, Tom’s reaction to losing his “son” — so great
This entire episode for me is up there with the first failed “good cop, bad cop”, Kenku racism, the time Thom rolled a 20 and made Deborah the Troglodite look over her shoulder, and stoner Harper. This is for sure the hardest I’ve laughed since the Conversion. Except for the parts where Nika was petulant, but hey.
All those callbacks but no “REFLEEEEXXX!!”
Such pod
Much cast
Personally I think Nika is mostly just asking, negotiating her desires and/or standing up for herself — the harsh reactions kind of smack of the way people do not expect women to stand up for themselves the way men do, and instead find it grating when they instinctively (or are taught by society to) expect women to be unassuming and of dulcet tone — which is actually patriarchal bullshit that stifles their equality and completely overlooks the many very aggressive “pleas” and even subtle threats that have been delivered by the likes of Thom Dragonborn. Tim did not seem to get this treatment when he caused episode-long arguments? (LOVE you guys!) I could be wrong, but give it some thought. To Nika – be kind, RP like hell, and do not be afraid to KICK SOME ASSSSSS.
Agreed
I disagree. I don’t mind when players try things and try to get what they can, but if the DM says “no” or shuts you down, you gotta let it go. The harsh reactions are from people being irritated at stubbornness
