With the deaths of their friends in the backs of their mind, the group finally gets a chance to chat with this powerful monkey or ape like creature. Sure, we have experienced loss, but maybe, just maybe, this will be a potential new ally that will help us feel whole again. A strong new fighter compatriot is a powerful thing for the soul, as most people know. I hazard to say that that everyone feels a spark of hope with this new friend.
Join us in June in Portland for GeeklyCon 2016!!! Tickets are still available at the time of this posting. Orders after 4/1/2016 will not receive any sweet swag, so you should get on that quick!
The adventure continues with Titus Harper (Tim Lanning), Bonanas Foster (Mike Bachmann), Aludra (Jennifer Cheek), Jaela (Nika Howard) and your Dungeon Master (Michael DiMauro). Don’t forget to follow our editor Steph Kingston (@stephokingston)!
I have no idea what the hell is going on in this show anymore, but I’m enjoying the crazy ride!
P.S. the outro music for this episode was perfect.
This podcast never made me laugh harder. Their hate for bananas foster only made it funnier. It felt like an episode of the office with all the awkwardness. RIP bananas
Mike made a literal skill monkey
That was………amazing. what is even going on
I am so happy someone made this comment. I only caught on near the end!
Absolutely the best episode of the new season. I love Bananas Foster and please oh please do not let him die… Or do. It’s not up to me. Great job guys.
I honestly hate all of Mike Bachmann’s characters. He never seems like he cares about any of the other players, and just does whatever he wants.
I’d rather have the Bachmann’s spontaneity than all the episodes of frivolous planning. The Podcast has been really great this “season” and Bachmann’s character roulette is becoming a huge part of it.
I loved the episode and Mr. Foster, still I am glad that he will not stick around as he could ruin the group dynamic. Through half of the episode I wondered if Nika was upset or just in character.
Quick game mechanic question for the cast- Does Nyx need proficiency in leather worker’s tools, cobbler’s tools, or is it supple enough to count as cloth?
Funny episode but I’m genuinely looking forward to returning to the story. I like goofs as much as the next person but I think this episode drifted too far into left field and never came back. Even one of the players seemed to check out completely from the whole thing.
Needle in the Hay Donkey Kong Country Remix still makes me weep. Has it occurred to you Geekly peeps that Needle in the Hay will certainly be playing at all your irl funerals? Cute!
Future Aludra heavy episode title suggestion: Baldur’s Date
This was the best episode in years! You are a genius Bachmann!
Just imagine how this storyline would be going if Bachmann just played along with Michael….*shivers* Scary….Bananas Foster is an insane character lol
Just let apelings live to 600 or 700 or so in your setting. Elves can do it.
A shame that Nika opted out of this one – the Monkey business was fantastic!
This is the, and will forever be, the greatest episode of Drunks and Dragons ever created
Man thrifty, one inconsequential detail and you kill off a character instead of allowing Mike to play something little more fun. Nice.
Seems weirdly out of character for me, doesn’t it? Almost like this was planned and a set up for a joke…
Dimauro i like you sooooo much less right now. like genuinely, really bad form. also Jaela should have consequences for being a paladin who refuses to help, point 2 you get 3 death saving throws not just 1, point 3 fainting and going unconscious in combat are different things. if he actually fell he’d have to take dmg, which he didn’t. point 4 if your player wants to sneak away and no one is observing him (and later you said winston wasn’t there anymore) they always succeed. i know you make your own rules but you broke so many of them just to kill off the greatest character ever made. if it wasn’t for my trust in bachmann’s ability to make a great character i’d stop watching here and now. that was just mean man, just mean.
I’m not the one you should be mad at 😉
Bananas Foster was so much rp greatness! Love life that Mike Bachman brought to this episode! Kinda seemed like Jaela phoned it in on this one.
I love how some folks are genuinely upset about this. Mikey was reverse railroading the campaign so following the rules and established character of Foster would only be funny for approximately 2 more episodes. I’m glad he died while he was still funny for me. Thrifty, you aren’t mean. You’re a sweety.
Killing off a series of Bachmann’s characters was Bachmann’s idea. He thought it would be funny. I suggested he make Bananas 300 years old, but he thought it would be more believable that I would kill him off if he were 500 years old. If you listen to the Bearcharger episode, he accidentally starts talking in Bearcharger’s “smart” voice before I announce he is going to die.
That makes so much sense.
I am so impressed with your DMing ability!
Just got to this episode. Perfection. I think I might steal Bananas Foster for an NPC. This is amazing. I can’t work. I’m crying.
This is honestly the hardest I’ve ever laughed at any form of entertainment. Wondering where Nika’s participation has been in the last few episodes, but loving the string of Bachmann characters. And the new Harper! Love the new rp. And Nyx’s obsession with the skin: beautiful.
The Branson thing. It just. Keeps. Going.
Probably the best episode since Thom and Aludra gave birth and Harper and Jaela found the head device removal room.
I’m dying!! It’s really hard to drive listening to the episode!
Hilarious!
This is one of my favorite episodes, omg, and a great standalone episode to have a friend listen to. I wish Nika/Jaela would not say “it doesn’t matter” and such when she rolls though. It’s very depressing and feels passive aggressive (this from the guy who defended her a few episodes that people may think she’s over-aggressive simply because she’s female, so I definitely have her back). Listeners would like to just hear what the roll is, maybe a reaction to it (good or bad), maybe some roleplay as to what happened due to the good or bad roll. Bad rolls happen, we just need to “roll” with them and keep the show and brand going. Huzzah!
(Of course the lovely Nika was also very sick this episode so I chose the worst time to basically request that someone retroactively not do something two years ago that they probably don’t even do anymore because they have grown as a person and perhaps even evolved into that starbaby from 2001: A Space Odyssey. I am garbage.)
About halfway through the episode at work… Digging the whole Bachmann Character Roulette. If everyone were to listen closely, he specifically says (a few times throughout recording the podcast) his favorite part of tabletops is the RP… so… it completely makes sense (and makes me extremely happy) that they harnessed his love and ability for role playing (side note: it was pretty sweet that he practically nailed the voice for the Gnome squire when he was disguised). I’m guessing that Jaela has turned into an Oath Breaker.. perhaps something to do with the Erathis (probably spelled incorrectly) tattoos disappearing and her and Aludra having issues… I’m hoping it plays out well because poor Nika has seemed so upset since the conversion to 5e at this point and the Jaeludra thing seems to have been carrying her through.
Keep up the great work and I cannot wait to catch up!
Addendum to previous comment:
Bananas Foster’s age could be justified by saying that he was once an elf that died and was reincarnated into that form, retaining all past knowledge and skills with bonuses based on the new form! Then again, this would have circumnavigated the whole CON save rolls for strenuous activity.
Man that outro music… Where can I find it ?
Everybody chant together so they have to do it, BRInG BaCk BaNanaS FosTer! BrinG baCk BanAnaS foStEr! I see that you guys planned to kill him off, but nooooo. Best character ever. I must say it seemed quite unfair how he left the world. 🙁 You will be remembered in the hearts of your fans. Thank you Bachmann
