As our little world is growing, I know all you fine people can’t wait to see which directions the heroes take. Any week could hold completely different adventures because we the players chose to go left instead of right. This is the magic of Dungeons and Dragons and one of the main reasons why this show is so much fun to make. This week’s episode is a truly special one and we hope you enjoy it. Things get pretty interesting to say the least.
The adventure continues with Tum Darkblade (Tim Lanning), Thom the Dragonborn (Mike Bachmann), Junpei Iori (Steven Strom), Aludra (Jennifer Cheek) and your Dungeon Master (Michael DiMauro).
Drunks and Dragons is a weekly podcast using the Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition ruleset. Please let us know what you think!
Picture this: my gay manfriend and I are falling asleep in bed one night snuggled up to my guide dog when I happen upon your podcast through iTunes. Podcasts being a favored form of entertainment for the blind, I lay awake, morbidly curious about these woefully amateuristic novitiates of an art form I’ve been novicing in for 20 years. I lay, sickly fascinated, spellbound for 3 entire episodes, long after my manfriend has scornfully nodded off to sleep.
Now look at me. I can’t stop. I even donated to be a guest player in December! You folks are a rare and gifted group of fun-loving gamers. You serve as avatars of the Dungeons and Dragons spirit, epitomizing all of the qualities that D&D was meant to be; camaraderie, teamwork, true RPing, and a healthy diversion from the exigencies of our modern world, onto nothing but the stage of the collective human imagination, creating something more than the disparate parts could achieve alone.
A few years ago, I was fighting for my life against cancer of the bone and lung. As hopelessly unmanning as it sounds, D&D played an important part of my recovery, allowing me the chance to shrug off the realities of a painful and arduous road, granting me permission to engage a happier, child-like existence, even if for a little while, just long enough to recharge and live to fight some more in a few hours. I really wish I had this podcast going during that dark time; it is a precious thing to witness this gem, this group dynamic that exists among you all. My point is, I lived to tell the tale of things like this, but you never know how many lives you reach when you create something. And when that creation has broad dissemination, you are doing real-life healing magic, to battle away the real-life curses of cancer and loss.
In short, keep up the inspiring podcasts!!
PS: hey, Aludra….SHOW ME YOUR CRITTIES!…(What? Gay dudes can say stuff like that, right?)
That’s an amazing story. Really looking forward to having you on the show in the future!
You make me want to do this podcast forever. Thank you for sharing!
Hard to follow up that last comment (super inspiring, man!), but I was the one who left the $1.15, lol (long story short, I have this weird OCD thing with numbers)
Anyway, I love it when you guys get new armour and weapons and stuff. Reminds me of those Oprah episodes where everyone gets free swag.
I like that way better than it being accidental 🙂
I was going to donate an additional $5 and add a note saying the extra was so Thom could be cured of his “ailment” he received from Ross but, ….he’d just have gotten it again. 😉 love you guys (and lady) keep up the great work!!
Since Dragonman has secrets, are the adventurers not supposed to read the Wiki or listen to previous episodes anymore? Cuz ya know, they might get spoiled and mix player and character knowledge together – ruining our fun! Thanks for reading. If there were any really deep dark secrets, I would do them off the air!
