About Tim Lanning

Tim founded GeeklyInc with Michael DiMauro way back in 2013 when they realized they had two podcasts and needed a place to stick them. Since then, Geekly has grown and taken off in ways Tim could have never imagined.

Praise be to¬†Mielikki! A brand new Drunks and Dragons Random Encounters!!! Things are a little different for this Random Encounter in that we are encountering READING! We have always said that our DnD podcasts are funded by the government for the purpose of promoting education and how it can be “both fun and enjoyable for today’s children and tomorrow’s soldiers” and we are excited to add reading comprehension to the mix. Please join us on our journey through “The Companions” the first book in The Sundering series of novels.

In this our first episode we do a few special things. 1) we discuss our general knowledge of reading in the D&D world. 2) we give a brief no spoiler review of “The Companions”. 3) Tim tells attempts to fill in the backstory of Drizzt and his pals. 4) Go through what actually happens in “The Companions.” Our goal was to let folks who do not want to be spoiled get a general sense of the world so that they can make a choice on their own whether they want to read or not. Future episodes will be much more straight forward.

We are having a contest to win your very own copy of “The Companions” in beautiful hardcover glory. Head on over here to get the rules on how to win.

Here is our live episode discussing “The Companions.”

  1. Tim Tim, I love you but you are no longer allowed to give a synopsis unless you have read or accurately remember what’s actually happening.
If i had to give an accuracy rating to what you listed while doing the backstory arc is roughly 35% accurate if you add in the parts you were kinda right about but not really.

Still loved it, don’t get me wrong, very humorous.

Read where you left off, the hunters blades. It’s some of the best books in the series
Also read the sellsword series of books. it’s about enterie and jarlaxle

  2. I have been rather puzzled by you guys not playing the game “Paranoia” since it seems like a great fit for your style (and you could have Adam Bash come on to guest-voice the computer): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paranoia_%28role-playing_game%29

but I have to say that it would of course also be interesting to see you guys try out Whitewolf’s “Vampire” series before they release the MMORPG in the next few years, or anything in their further universe with crazy demons, monsters, or wizard clans:

Best of luck with Tim’s campaign and Serenity!

  3. Made me really want to read this book. I love the idea of adult minds being stuck in babies bodies being raised up again. Makes me want to give this novel to new parents. Also if possible, if I win this novel from you, could I have some clippings of Tim’s beard to be used as a bookmark? Glad to see both Tim and Jennifer in good health! Though Jennifer did seem uncomfortable with Tim putting his arm around her on the the back of her chair. I shall run out and buy this book immediately! So I can critique your review appropriately next time. In truth, loved it all and keep up the good work!!!
P.S. loved you too Thrifty! I’m still trying to get over that you have the exact same voice and infections that a good friend of mine has.
