Episode 175 – Two Steps Forward

By Tim Lanning on

About Tim Lanning

Tim founded GeeklyInc with Michael DiMauro way back in 2013 when they realized they had two podcasts and needed a place to stick them. Since then, Geekly has grown and taken off in ways Tim could have never imagined.

News of a friend in danger reaches our heroes and makes them feel like big idiots. This totally ruins their plan of “making everyone love us” that they so lovingly crafted. Turns out that this world is still full of many dangers. Dangers that exist not just in a city of elves but also a city of dwarfs and one githyanki.

The adventure continues with Titus Harper (Tim Lanning), Jett Razor (Mike Bachmann), Aludra (Jennifer Cheek), Jaela (Nika Howard) and your Dungeon Master (Michael DiMauro). Don’t forget to follow our editor Steph Kingston (@stephokingston)!

  1. all aboard!! choo choooooo!
why bother giving the player choices at all? just tell them what to do thrifty, saves a lot of time on the railroading.

    • I think you’re getting railroading confused with what’s commonly referred to as a “plot hook.” I assume you’re referring to the news about Bucky being taken by the Oakbacks? Correct me if I’m wrong. We’ve known the players to get lost in conversation, and occasionally Michael needs to give them a kick in the butt. Why don’t you stop criticizing his DMing, and try to run a game yourself. You may find the players could give two shits about the story arc you’ve spent months preparing. I’m guessing Michael does a lot more thinking on his feet, than people give him credit for.

      • You’re right. Thrifty is an amazing DM telling awesome stories. Everything about D&D involves decision making and trying to keep a balance between all the various elements of play, and they do an admirable job.

  2. Thrifty,
you’re honestly the most creative DM I could ever imagine (I’ve never played DnD or listened to another DnD podcast) but I can’t imagine anyone better than you. Bachman, you’re my favorite person. Never change. Nika, you’re adorable, bada$$ and everything I ever hope to be. Jennifer, you’re amazing and you intimidate me. Tim, you’re the perfect combination of rule-keeper and hilarity. I miss the Daisy side story.
